L929 fibroblast cell culture growth behavior

Observations of the L929 cell line with zenCELL owl. A vast amount of cell divisions result in the formation of a confluent cell monolayer over a time period of 65 hours. In order to perform a cell division, fibroblast cells detach from the substrate surface, divide into daughter cells and attach back to the substrate. The ability of L929 cells for cell migration can be observed sporadically.

Untreated L929 fibroblast cell line growth behavior

A vast amount of cell divisions result in the formation of a confluent cell monolayer of the untreated L929 cell line over a time period of 28 hours. In order to perform a cell division, fibroblast cells detach from the substrate surface, divide into daughter cells and attach back to the substrate.

L929 fibroblast cell line treated with the cytostatic drug chloroacetaldehyde

Treatment with the cytostatic drug Chloroacetaldehyde [50 µM] leads to inhibition of cell proliferation and visible morphologic changes, detachment from the surface and ultimate cell death. Video shows a time period of 12 hours.

The Video show a nearly complete closure of the gap within 24 hours after inserting a scratch (width: 600 µm). Cells spread and move from the edges of the gap into the free space. Sporadic cell divisions are visible.
