Which cell types and vessel formats are compatible? +
zenCELL owl works with all standard adherent cell lines — HeLa, HEK293, MCF7, AGS, CHO, PC12, L929, and many more. Compatible vessel formats include 6-well and 24-well plates, T25/T75/T175 flasks, and petri dishes (17–35mm). With the XYZ SCAN stage add-on, 96-well and 384-well plates are also fully supported.
Can zenCELL owl do fluorescence imaging? +
zenCELL owl is a brightfield (transmitted light) system and does not support fluorescence imaging. If fluorescence is essential for specific assays, zenCELL owl cannot fully replace Incucyte for those experiments. However, for all brightfield applications it is a complete and superior alternative — and the cost difference is substantial.
How does the autofocus work? +
Fully automatic — like a smartphone camera. The included adapter frame magnetically fixes well plates for reproducible positioning. The included perforated bottom plate covers T-flasks and dishes. The system automatically focuses within a 2mm range at every imaging interval. No manual adjustment needed — not even when switching plate types, after a one-time setup per format.
